About CrazyPlanesRC

Designed and patented in 2010

The CrazyBall was shown publicly at the 2011 E-Fest in Champaign Illinois. With approx 35-40 planes flying the circuit around the armory getting eaten was a big risk so the CrazyBall just flew in the center in one of its 'CrazyBall spins'.

Kits were marketed and sold for a few years but 6 channel radios were still a bit expensive and the motors were somewhat marginal.

Affordable technology needed to catch up a bit and shipping worldwide was high, so the site was mothballed and the url kept.

Along comes V2!

About December 2011, the Version Two (V2) was developed. Lighter weight foam called 'Depron Aero' was found to be lighter , smoother and a bit more durable and when combined with a few EPP parts, became a much lighter Aiframe.

That came to a quick close as the only supplier of Depron Aero stopped shipping to the US entirely. They were maninly a flooring foam insulation company and found that industry made them more profit, so 'goodbye Depron Aero'

One of the problems with the original CrazyBall was that the annular wing/thrust ring would get 'scooped out' by the prop on a solid crash and limited the life of the airframe, so a redesign was in order, accomplished and heavily tested.

Over the years, hundreds other designs were created, tested, perfected and images saved knowing some day there will be a better environment for the CrazyBall and its kin.

Those days began to materialize around 2018 and a new design finalized.
